Take a common factor between 18 and 36. Take 6 for example. Divide each number by 6 and put it inside the parentheses.
6(3+6)

Lets use the distributive property to re-write this:-

18 + 36

2(9 + 18)

To make sure of this, lets solve

2*9 = 18
2*18 = 36
36 + 18 = 54
54 = 54 PERFECT
