How can estimation help me to find the area of a rectangle or square

If you know your multiplication tables it becomes quite simple to find the area of a rectangle. You can round your lengths up or down accordingly to find the area of a figure. For example, what if we had a square 2.334" by 3.574"? The 2.334 rounds down to 2 and the 3.574 rounds up to 4. Now we have a 2 by 4" rectangle. Now we find our area. 2*4=8 inches squared.
