Thw settlers that moved to Kansas and Nebraska wanted the land to make their farms. The land was great for farming and raising animals on. The land was offered to most of the settlers for free or a very small fee that was provided by the Homestead Act. More than 1 million people eventually came to Kansas. In addition to farming, they used the timber that available to build homes, barns, and then sold the rest to logging companies. The correct answer is D, farming.
