The answer is d. Pericles. Under his leadership, Athen’s military and political strength increased. He built two parallel walls that connect Athens with its port Piraeus. He promoted the growth Hellenistic culture as the finest works of art and literature was made in Athens. He erected great structures like the Parthenon, the Erechtheum and the temple of Athena Nike. Apart from buildings, he also ordered the construction of beautiful statues. He also helped the poor in Athens by providing them pay for jury duty and theater admissions.
