What role did the Scientific Revolution play in bringing about the Enlightenment? Monarchs financed exploration of new lands leading to an age of discovery. Martin Luther's 95 Theses caused many to question the authority of the church. Theories by thinkers such as Copernicus and Galileo caused traditional world views to be shaken. John Locke's theories generated ideas that challenged the earlier works of Thomas Hobbes.

Martin Luther King is one of the most significant figures from the Western History. He has penned a document attacking the Catholic Church during the 1517. He exposed the corrupt practice of the Catholic Church in selling “indulgences” to absolve sin. His 95 Theses had two central beliefs that spark the Protestant Reformation or enlightenment. These two beliefs were: the Bible is the central religious authority and that humans may reach the salvation only by their faith and not by their deeds. He used this to spark religious reformation and soon Protestantism emerged and changed the course of religious and cultural history in the West.
