ADVERBS are words that accentuate a verb

Here's an example:

- The dog ran quickly.
-

The action word is . . ran (verb) . . since this is what the dog did
How fast the dog ran . . quickly (adverb) . . is the word that accentuates the verb

For your example:
Open the drawers carefully and quietly when using the the file cabinet

. . the words carefully and quietly are the adverbs which accentuate the verb of opening the drawers
