It was the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month also known as “Remembrance Day”. It was remembered by Commonwealth Nations as the end of hostilities of World War I. It was on November 11, 1918 that the fighting formally ended. The armistice was signed with the Treaty of Versailles.
