What type of literature was produced during the Revolutionary Period? Why? *

During the Revolutionary Period writers produced mostly political literature and literature meant to enlighten or teach. A perfect example of political literature would be Thomas Paine whereas Ben Franklin represents best what was meant to teach others. It was a time where rationalism and education were highly valued.
