elected members of a representative democracy vote to give themselves a pay raise is this legitimate or illegitimate?

legitimate means something like true or good
so illegitimate is bad
so if people ellect to give themselves the raise, the are not serving the ones who ellected them which was the pourpose of them n the first place. it's like abusing your power

so it is illigitimate
