We faced native Americans who were fighting for their own land and since the United Sates just finished the American Revolution, we were on on pretty hard terms with the British. America was also going into pre-war of 1812 era. The Us were also in a conflict with Mexico, and wanted to expand their country. There were also problems economically. I the first years of the US, citizens didn't have to pay taxes, so the government could pay off its war debt, and couldn't get any money. And of course there was the issue of slavery.
