The biggest critisisms of the industrial revolution were pointed against the owners of factories which completely neglected the welfare and wellbeing of their workers as peopel could work up to 16 hours a day, children and women weren't being taken care of in any possible case. All of this was done because the idea of profit and creating an elite in society was feasible for the factory owners.
