We set up a proportion: ?/500= 2/5

Cross multiply:
5*?= 2*500
⇒ ?= 2*500/5= 200

2/5 of 500 is 200~

200 is 2/5 of 500 because 1/5 if 500 is 100 so 2/5 would be 200.
