In this political cartoon from 1948, Stalin and Truman are engaged in a game of chess. Stalin’s pieces represent the Berlin Blockade and the Eastern Block. Truman’s pieces represent the Berlin Airlift and the Atlantic Alliance. What does this cartoon tell us about the relationship between the USSR and the United States at this time?
