Here's how my teacher taught me this:

Find the subject: Jill
Find the verb: asked
Jill asked who or what: Us
What did Jill ask us to do: go to the soccer field.

Jill is the subject, asked is the verb: "soccer field" is the Direct Object and "us" is the Indirect Object. No preposition is present.
