Penguins spend almost 75% of their lives in the sea. An emperor penguin in the wild has a life span of about 18 years. About how many years does this penguin spend in the sea?

We have an equation: ?/18= 75/100

Cross multiply:
100*?= 18*75
⇒ ?= 18*75/100= 13.5

The penguin spends 13.5 years in the sea~

You need to work out 75% of 18. To do this you need to divide 18 by 4. This is 4.5. Then, to get 75%, you need to times that number by 3. The answer is 13.5 years
