Journalistic style cannot include bias, because one of the most important goals of conscientious journalist is to be objective. On the other hand, every good article must have striking lead sentence. Also, the journalist is supposed to answer the big six questions: what, who, when, where, why and how (5 W + how). It is true that he should have a main idea, a thesis, but it must be supported by evidence, i.e. the journalist have to speak to experts on the subject and include their statements in the text.
