5 miles = 8 km to 1 d.p.
60 x 5/8 = 37.5 miles
(Lava Flow) 37.5 < 48 (Horse)
In addition, that was only the fastest speed that it was recorded. This means that there would have been slower rates of movement, further decreasing the flows total distance in an hour.
