What are the results of the Mexican war as far as slavery was concerned

In terms of slavery, the end of the Mexican war (and subsequent American victory) meant that the US had a large amount of new territory to occupy, which was deemed acceptable for slavery--meaning that it had a negative impact on slavery in the eyes of the abolitionists.
