The Chinese Nationalist Movement overthrew the Qing Dynasty. This dynasty formed the basis for Modern China. The Qing Dynasty was preceded by the Ming Dynasty. The empire tripled its size under the Ming Dynasty. The population grew from 150 million people to 450 million people. There were many non-Chinese minorities incorporated within the Chinese territory. They were assimilated into China. An integrated national economy was established.
