The first Commonwealth games began and were held in the year of 1930 in Hamilton in Canada. There eleven countries sent 400 athletes to play in 6 sports and 59 events. Cricket, Hockey, and Rugby were the first games. It was in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur that team sports were first introduced in the Games.
