After a coup d’etat in Spain overthrew the government, Augustin de Iturbide proclaimed himself emperor of Mexico.

Augustin de Iturbide ruled for 10 months and then he was overthrown by the dictator Santa Anna. Later on, the emperor was exiled to Italy but in his return he was captured and sentenced to death in polticial trail
