Let us set up a proportion.
12/3 Amount he traveled in 3 hours was 12 kilometers.
12/3 = x/1 We are looking for how many kilometers per hour (x)
Cross multiply
12/3 = x/1
12*1 = x*3
12 = 3x
3x = 12 Solve for x
3x/3 = 12/3 Divide both sides by 3.
x = 12/3
x = 4 X equals 4
Final answer:- Andrew traveled 4 kilometers per hour.
