The slope-intercept form of the equation of a line that passes through point (–3, 8) is y = –x + 6. What is the point-slope form of the equation for this line?

Answer: y-8=-1(x+3)

the formula for pain-slope form is:


y-y_(1)=m(x- x_(1))

(where
y_(1) =a known y coordinate &
x_(1) =a known x coordinate.

Now just plug in the data...

y-8=-1(x--3)
y-8=-1(x+3)
