The correct answer is D) pain of homelessness. Because the Wanderer is all by himself - he has nowhere to go, everybody he knows is dead, and he is alone in the world. He want to find a home, somewhere to belong to, but he cannot, so he longs for a home and feels the pain of homelessness.
