Many countries started producing much more goods of different kinds. This lead to a proliferation of various service sectors which enabled different countries to provide even more goods for their people.
What I'm trying to say is that the industrial revolution enabled the people to receive and buy many more goods than they were able to before the industrial revolutions. If they had the money of course.
