You didn't really provide any statements with which we can compare ancient Greeks and the Roman Republic. However, with that said, we can safely say that the Roman were influenced by the Greek idea of direct democracy. While this wasn't necessarily immediatly visible to the naked eye, there were some shared attributes between the Roman Republic and the ancient Greeks.
