The fleet of Commodore Mathew Perry had 2 steamers and two sailing vessels making up his fleet that reached Tokyo harbor on 8th July of the year 1853. Commodore Perry was the person that forced Japan to enter into treaty with the United States. Japan was forced to open its ports to all U. S. ships and continue trading with United States.
