The Tang Dynasty was considered a golden age for art and literature in Chinese history. Two of China's greatest poets, Li Bai and Du Fu, hail from the Tang era.

Woodblock printing, one of the most common ways to print books and other texts, originated during the Han dynasty but further developed during the Tang dynasty.

Buddhism also gained major influence, but later decreased due to being prohibited by the state.
