Franco owns his landscaping business. He has to plant 425 plants in 47 places. After planting, how many plants will he have left to take home and plant in his own yard?

Number of trees to be planted = 425

Number of places where equal number of plants are to be planted = 47

The number of plants to be planted in each place is


(425)/(47)=9.04255...\approx 9

So, in each place 9 trees have to be planted.

Hence, the number of plants he will plant is
47* 9=423.

Number of trees remaining will be


425-9* 47=2

So, Franco can take home 2 plants for his own yard.
