The Boer War was overall quite negative for the Black Africans of South Africa. Since there was terrible treatment for this particular group of people, this affected the democracy (and lack there of) as well as the quality of life they would have for the next coming years. Their farms were unworkable, as their land was scorched and due to this many of them became the unskilled urban poor.
