In the story " The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant, Mathilde visited her rich friend in order to borrow jewelry that she will wear in the party of his husband's workplace. Indeed, Mathilde was able to borrow a beautiful necklace from her friend that day and was very happy. She promised to return the necklace after using it. During the party, she was indeed one of the crowd favorites because of her beautiful transformation. It sounded like the rags to riches transformation, that everybody give her that admiring looks especially the men in the party.
