Foreshadowing means B. hinting at things that will occur later. Sometimes authors may introduce a symbol or a character so as to show the readers that something awaits them in the following chapters, but he or she will not reveal immediately what that actually is. The other examples don't really make any sense and do not refer to what foreshadowing actually is.
