The main demands the Mongols made on their Russian subjects were obedience and tons of tribute.

However, Ivan III lead the Russian independence from the Mongols. He refused to pay the tribute in 1400s but neither side fought and Russia declared freedom.

Eventually, Mongols conquered the empire established by the Seljuk Turks where Persia is part of their conquerees. Under the Mongols control Persians were treated harshly and brutally.
