in this case, 16/25=240 loaves that he sold
25/25 is how many loaves he started with, and 9/25 is what he now has
16/25 =240
divide bothe sides by the numerator(16) to get what 1/25 of his loaves equal
1/25=15
multiply both sides by 25
the baker started with 375

Answer:

The baker baked 375 loaves of bread that day.

Explanation:

Let the baker baked a total of x loaves of bread.

240 loaves were sold by the end of the day.

The baker was then left with 9/25 of the number of loaves that were baked.

We get the equation:

x-240=(9x)/(25)

Solving for x;

=>
25(x-240)=9x

=>
25x-6000=9x

=>
25x-9x=6000

=>
16x=6000

x = 375

Therefore, the baker baked 375 loaves of bread that day.
