Rome was strongly influenced by the culture of the Greek. Greece was very advanced and developed at the time, both in terms of politics, science, literature, and art. So obviously, a new state would be influenced by something so developed as Greece was in the ancient times. Many instances of Roman art were either inspired by Greek art, and oftentimes Roman artists would even shamelessly copy some of the Greek art, especially regarding their column styles and architecture.
