one large park is a better refuge than several smaller parks of the same total habitat area because the fragmentation of a natural ecosystem reduces the sustainability. This means several small parks would be less sustainable compared to one large park of the same total habitat area. the reason they are not as sustainable is because when the ecosystem becomes fragmented species with large home ranges may not have enough area to survive
