The effect of the end of the British war with France had on the War of 1812 was that it freed large numbers of British troops to fight in North America. When Britain and his allies finally defeated Napoleon the war effort was directed to the war with the United States. Their mighty fleet captured American warships and strenghtened the blockade, all imports and exports were cut off.
