More than half of Turkey's population lives along the country's coastal plains because?

the regions in central Turkey are separated from the coastal plains by mountains, which limit the influence of weather from the coastal regions. Because of this central Turkey is relatively dry with cold winters: this is what causes people to not want to live there and choose the coastal plains instead.
