The main way in which the periods of Jeffersonian Democracy and Jacksonian Democracy illustrated the ideas that democracy is a process rather than conclusion is that Jefferson was obsessed with addressing the needs of the aristocracy, and by the time Jackson was seeking the presidency, the "common man" had become a much more important element of the electorate.
