Photosynthesis is the process by which plants manufacture food such as glucose. There are two parts to photosynthesis, one which involves sunlight (light dependent reactions) and those that do not involve sunlight (light independent reactions). The light dependent reactions require light, water and photosynthetic pigments.

Photosynthesis is a process by which a green plant and some other organisms produce their own food. In this light-dependent reactions, the major requirements are sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water. The green pigment that is present in these plants is called the chlorophyll.
