c. constructing cell membranes. The cell membrane is composed of phospholipids and fibrous proteins, as well as glycoprotein, pore protein and channel protein. The cell membrane doesn't allow water soluble substances to pass through (glucose, water, amino acids) without the help of various transport proteins.
