Split
By definition the word “diverged” means to separate from another route, especially a main road, and then go in a different direction. Synonyms of the word diverge include separate, art, fork, divide, split, bifurcate, go in different directions. In the poem by Robert Frost The Road Not Taken, the first line states “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood.” This means that a road split into two in the yellow forest. The other choices do not exactly have the correct meaning of “diverge”.
