gravity means the force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth, or toward any other physical body having mass. For most purposes Newton's laws of gravity apply, with minor modifications to take the general theory of relativity into account.

A strong, invisible force called gravity pulls everything on Earth down. Gravity keeps you and all the things that are around you from floating up into the sky. An example of gravity is when you jump off the ground. Gravity is what pulls you back down.
