Amphibians are said to have evolved from the bony fish called lung fish. Lung fishes are beleived to be the ancestors of amphibians. Lung fishes are jawed, bony fishes. There are three families and six extant species of lung fishes; four species are found in the family Protopteridae, and one specie each in Ceratodontidae and Lepidosirenidae families.
