How did the great compromise resolve the representation conflict?

When writing the new constitution, it couldn't be agreed on how states would be represented. Therfore, The Great Compromise was proposed. It would have two houses. One house would have the same amount of representatives per state, and the other had representatives based on population of each state. This proposal worked well because it was fair.
