In Mesoamerican culture, the subjects of worship included the sun, moon and Quetzalcoatl. Quetzalcoatl was believed to be a deity which resembled a feathered serpent and many myths and beliefs revolved around it. To honor the deity, cultures such as the Mayans constructed large pyramids.
