In general, the French did not try to change the Native American customs as much as the Spanish missionaries did.

Answer:

French had a peaceful friendship with the native Indians than the other settlers like Spanish colonists. French upon coming to America, developed strong ties with the Native Indians for fur pelts in exchange for metal cooking pots, weapons, horses, and other goods not accessible to the Natives. French respected the Native Indians and forged alliances. Both interchange their culture by marriages, which seen as a good sign, helped them at the beginning of a good relationship.
