The main reason why the United States was willing to go to war with Spain over Cuba was because the United States was concerned about crimes against humanity being committed there. They were also concerned that Spain would have power so close to US territory.

Bc America was getting ready to Cuba economically BC of the sugar trade. Cuba tried to realize independence from the Kingdom of Spain. America was with Cuba and America declared war on the Kingdom of Spain, however, America won. And let Cuba have their independence.US trade was overproducing in terms of domestic consumption, so required to search out new overseas markets. Otherwise, it would need to cut production, which would have caused a depression.
