1. The given number is 7.97
This is a mixed number, a whole number and a decimal number.
Now, what are the rounding benchmark of this numbers?
First, let’s determine each values:
=> 7, the number in the left of the decimal point has a value of ones
=> 9, the number next to the decimal point has a value of tenths
=> 7 , next to 8 has a value of hundredths.
Notice, that the numbers are all more than 5, which means, rounding up will apply.
If we round to the nearest tenths, the answer would be:
=> 8.00, how? Because the number next to tenths value is 7 which means, you need to round up, the value of tenths, is 9 so plus 1 equals 10. Thus the answer would be 8.00
