Why did thomas paine's common sense inspire colonists?

Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" greatly inspired the colonists to revolt against Great Britain since it spelled out in easy-to-understand language why it was impractical for such a vast and thriving nation to be ruled by such a small island nation.
